Cowan Road Elementary Mimio Core Skills 1 November 21, 2013

Hi Cowan Elementary Staff,
I enjoyed our sessions on Thursday! I am so glad that you are enthusiastic about this new solution.  This post contains some notes about the Mimio software and hardware.

If you have any questions before my next visit, feel free to call me or email me. I have also reserved the lab (2nd Floor at Central Office) on Mondays from 3:15p to 4:30p. These will be informal, drop-in sessions. We can go over core skills OR advanced skills. If you want help with files that you have already created to make them more interactive for your students, just bring those with you on Mondays to the lab.

I hope you all have a great Thanksgiving!
April

Tips worth knowing:
MOVING YOUR TOOLS AND CHANGING THE VIEW OF YOUR NOTEBOOK PAGE

You may want to place the Tool Bar to the bottom so that students can reach it easily.
>View
>Standard Tool Bar
>Choose placement

You may want to move where your thumbnails appear.
>View
>Tab View
>Choose placement

When you open a created file, you may want the students to focus on the content, not the tool bars.
>View
>Full screen

You may want your Studio Tools in a different place on your screen.

>Click the gray area at the top of the tools and drag the tools where you want them.

To collapse or expand the Studio Tools

Inserting files- You can use files that you have already created in Mimio Studio Notebook.

Click here to see a brief video of the 3 methods of inserting your files.

"Screen Clipping"- This is how you can capture ANY image and bring it into Mimio Studio. You can even use the free-form tool to capture JUST the image without the background.

"Screen Annotation" - You can use the Mimio tools to annotate over Word, PDF's, or sites from the Internet.

"File Attachment" - You can attach files right into your notebook file. They become a part of the Notebook file. You don't have to insert it, you can just open it and annotate right on top of it!
